Over the years, graduates of the department have spread all over the world and have been discharging professional duties with good reputations in the fields of education, research and industry. Moreover, out of the geological profession, a good number of alumni are contributing nationally and globally with utmost eminence in other fields like Public Administration, Corporate Management, IT, Business, Social-work etc..

Though over the last 67 years hundreds of graduates have been produced by the Department of Geology of the University of Dhaka, but there was no formal common platform for the alumni to maintain a link with the Department and as well as among the alumni. An association can contribute to meeting the need in this regard and can also pay attention collectively to enhance the glory of the Department. Indeed, without an association, it is not possible to unite the alumni, do something better for society, enrich the fame of the Department of Geology, or even not possible to manage or organize any fruitful event. Therefore, in pursuance of the above requirement and to create a common platform the Dhaka University Geology Alumni Association (DUGAA) is formed involving the alumni living at home and abroad.
